March 1-June 1, 2015
For the 5th anniversary of The Bitchin’ Kitsch, we are announcing our first Bitchin’ Book! And this bitchin’ book is going to be full of wonderful work from…hopefully you!
We are looking for writing or artwork that hasn’t previously been in an issue of The Bitchin’ Kitsch. It is completely open to new, emerging, and established writers or artists who have or have not submitted to The Bitchin’ Kitsch previously. Collaborations are accepted.
All pieces must be in English.
Please include a cover page with the title, your name as you would like it to appear, address, telephone number, and email address. Each piece will be reviewed anonymously and the cover sheet will only be referred to after the piece has been thoroughly reviewed. The piece itself, whether written or artwork, should be named the same name as indicated on the cover sheet. Please do not send bios. We are not interested in how little or how much you have been previously published.
All pieces, in order to be considered, must obey our general submission guidelines. Your submission must not: 1. break any federal or Wisconsin laws; 2. implicate yourself in a crime; 3. slander a member of the general population (public figures are exempt from this rule, as they open themselves for criticism); 4. have content that could be considered racist, sexist, or homophobic. If you do not follow these rules, your submission will not be considered and you will not be refunded.
For artwork submissions: send original files, not photos that have been compressed from online sources. Send 300 dpi high-resolution images that are at least 4 x 4″ in size (bigger if possible).
For written submissions: please send it in a Word Document or text file. While we don’t want to limit the length of anyone’s pieces, we do ask that you try and keep submissions under 2,000 words to allow room for other submissions.
When we have received your submission, you will receive an email indicating that we have received it.
All entires must be received by 5 pm CST on June 1, 2015.
There is a $5 non-refundable review fee for this juried competition. Please go to our Competition Fee Page to pay and send your submission to firstname.lastname@example.org. If your submission is larger than 5 MB, please email Chris for a Dropbox link.
You can send as many pieces for review as you like, but do be aware that at the most, only one written and one art piece will be accepted per submitter. A review fee will be required for each submission.
This juried competition is made possible by Nationwide Learning, LLC.
